Going back to the drawing board, I can get 2x LRM15 onto a normally armored Shadow Hawk (760 armor) with a reasonable amount of ammo. My default assault lance is two double AC/20 brawlers, a 4 LL headshot specialist, and an LRM60 boat. This pattern holds up for the endgame, too. #Battletech black knight freeIdeally, the first or second brawler knocks it down, giving you one or two chances to subsequently score a free head shot. So the ideal knockdown lance starts with the LRM boat unloading on a target for some general damage and to get it wobbly. AC/20s do precise, huge damage AND huge stability damage. So with a brawler and 3 LRM boats, you've only got one mech capable of effectively exploiting knockdowns, and it's probably busy tanking.Īssuming you're at the heavy stage of the game, the best set up for knockdowns would be some Orions with a single AC/20 apiece and an LRM boat. It won't hit called shots with any precision. As a practical matter, it's hard to set up more than one knockdown per round, and once you have a target flat on its back, an LRM boat is probably the worst thing to take advantage. If your LRM boats get caught by the enemy, you're in for a bad time.Īside from that, if your goal is to exploit knockdowns for victory and salvage, it still seems pretty sub-optimal. Well, it's more that they changed something with the program that generates a lot of extra disk access on initial load, it's just not as noticeable on an SSD drive due to the faster access speeds.īefore I do something completely idiotic, how stupid is it to build out a lance with one heavy brawler for spotting and 3 minimally armored mediums equipped with LRM20s for long range destabilization/headshots? Is this an inherently stupid idea? When I started playing again, I just started making coffee during the intro to get around it, which isn't ideal. Generally th edelay is somewhere in the 4-6 minute range. Given the volume of people who experienced it, I imagine it's somewhere near the top of the queue. They put a note out eventually saying the delay was related to the game being installed on a non-SSD drive, and that they were working on it. Yeah, I was one of.a few.people who posted to the relevant bugs thread over on the HBS Battletech forum. Though I usually pull that mod's releases from GitHub rather than nexus. #Battletech black knight modIn the meantime, a mod called BattletechPerformanceFix eventually added their own fix for it. They supposedly have a fix but weren't able to get it out before the holidays. The long delay on the HBS logo was a bug introduced with Flashpoint. I don't think this was ever an issue until I bought Flashpoint the other day and started playing again. It will just freeze there and become listed as non-responding. If you get past the surface, there's literally no era of the Inner Sphere where this isn't true.ĭoes anyone else have an issue with Battletech hanging up at the studio logo? That's a lot more interesting than a "Euro/SE-asian cliché cultures vs neo-Mongolians with faux-Aztec aesthetics" deathmatch. #Battletech black knight fullI don't know all that much about the lore, but at whatever point in time the current game is set at, it feels like the galaxy is boiling pot full of minor wars, political intrigue, and shifting alliances. I hope HBS keeps all their BT content set before the Clan stuff. Descendants of famous military guy don super-goofy animal-themed costumes and head back to the old homeland to kick the asses of their decadent, degenerate ancestral people. Descendants of famous military guy develop a goofball caste-based society while nursing an eternal grudge for the old homeland.ģ. Famous military guy and his followers fuck off far away.Ģ. a Robert Jordan subplot for giant stompy robots:ġ. This should cover the main points pre-Jihad. Due to my total inability to get MW2 working on my PC, are there any good books or content that summarize the Clan wars?
